During the week of April 25, 2016, Patrol Deputy Denny Pittman with K-9 Drako and Patrol Deputy Daniel Smith with K-9 Aurus attended the US Police Canine Association Region 10 Narcotic Detection Certification Trials in Baton Rouge, LA. The certification allows evidence obtained by the Team to be used in Criminal Court.
Both teams received certification and placed in the top five in the Region. In addition, Deputy Smith and Aurus received the award for top Rookie Team. Both teams were trained by Deputy Daryl Husbands, who has trained K-9 teams for over 30 years.
