Olla man facing narcotic charges

A routine traffic stop in the Belah community last Thursday resulted in an Olla man being arrested and charged with multiple narcotic charges, according to Sheriff Scott Franklin.
On the night of Thursday, March 21, a LPSO K-9 deputy stopped a vehicle on Hwy 773 in the Belah community due to the vehicle crossing the double yellow line multiple times.
The deputy spoke to the driver, identified as Stuart Mayo, age 52, of Olla. The deputy observed Mayo placing his hands in his front pants pocket, and he was asked to remove them.
The deputy asked Mayo if he had any weapons or anything illegal on him, and Mayo informed of having a pocket knife and marijuana. Mayo was then handcuffed and the deputy began searching him.
During the search the K-9 deputy located a baggie containing suspected marijuana along with a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine.
Mayo was transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail and booked on the charges of possession of CDS II – methamphetamine, possession of CDS I – marijuana, and improper lane usage.
