Jena Man Arrested on Narcotics Charge
Narcotics detectives with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Ronald Eugene Gardner, Jr., 32, on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, for distribution of illegal narcotics, according to LaSalle Sheriff Scott Franklin.
Gardner was located by officers on Headstart Loop, just off LA 8, in Jena, LA, and taken into custody without incident.
The arrest resulted from an investigation into allegations of illegal drug sales in the Jena, LA, area. After information was received that Gardner was selling drugs, officers began the investigation which spanned several months. An undercover operative purchased illegal drugs from Gardner and gained the evidence needed to make this arrest.
Gardner was transported to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked into jail on the charges of three counts of distribution of CDS II, cocaine. Bond was set at $120,000, and as of press time on Monday, December 9, 2013, Gardner remained in the LaSalle Parish Jail in lieu of bond.
“This arrest comes after our narcotic detectives devoted a lot of time in making a case against this drug distributor,” Sheriff Franklin said. “But the effort is worth it because once again we have taken a drug dealer off the streets and away from our children.”
“Again, I make a plea to our citizens to get involved in your communities and when you see suspicious activities, report them to our office,” the Sheriff stated. “We will investigate and if there is illegal drug activity going on, we’ll get to the bottom of it.”
