Jonesville, LA Man Faces Illegal Drug Charges
A 22-year-old Jonesville, LA man faces illegal drug and contraband charges resulting from a multi-agency investigation, Sheriff Scott Franklin said Monday.
LPSO narcotic detectives, working alongside agents from the Department of Homeland Security’s office of Inspector General, conducted an investigation into employees of the LaSalle Detention Facility; based on reports of illegal contraband being introduced into the prison in Jena, LA.
Detectives and agents arrived at the facility and began searching vehicles in the parking lot with an LPSO K-9. An odor of illegal narcotics was detected on a vehicle registered to a black male identified as Sueenveon T. Turner, 22, of Jonesville, LA.
Turner was escorted to his vehicle and, when questioned, admitted that there were drugs in his vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag of suspected marijuana, along with other drug paraphernalia. Evidence was also found that Turner had been introducing drugs and cell phones into the prison, creating a severe security risk.
Turner was transported to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was arrested and booked into the parish jail on the following charges: Possession of CDS I, marijuana, with intent to distribute; and introduction/possession of controlled dangerous substance into a penal facility.
As of press time on Monday, August 11, 2014, Turner remained in the parish jail under a $35,000 bond.
