LPSO Makes Additional Illegal Drug Arrests
As the war on illegal narcotics continues in LaSalle Parish, two more drug arrests were made by LPSO officers during the past week, according to Sheriff Scott Franklin.
A Jena, LA, man, Christopher P. Walker, 30, was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution last week. The arrest stemmed from information about illegal drug sales in the west Jena area.
Detectives were able to gain evidence that Walker was selling prescription pills and cocaine. As a result, a warrant was issued from his arrest.
Walker was arrested without incident in this case. He was taken to the LaSalle Parish Jail and booked on the following charges: distribution of CDS III, hydrocodone; and distribution of CDS II, cocaine.
As of press time on Monday, March 31, 2014, Walker remained in the parish jail awaiting a bond hearing on these charges.
While patrolling in the Jena, LA, area last week, a LaSalle Parish Deputy Sheriff observed a vehicle making an illegal turn onto Bradford Street. The deputy then made a traffic stop of this vehicle.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified, one of which was Crystal C. Wiley, 33, of Green Terrace Apartments of Jena, LA.
During the traffic stop, the deputy became suspicious of Wiley and asked for permission to search the vehicle and her person. Permission was granted and the search revealed that Wiley was in possession of suspected methamphetamines, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.
The evidence was seized; Wiley was placed under arrest and transported to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was booked on the following charges: possession of CDS II, methamphetamines; possession of CDS I, marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wiley was transferred to the Richland Parish Detention Center and as of press time on Monday, March 31, 2014, was awaiting a bond hearing on these charges.
