Two Men Arrested on Synthetic Drug Charges
Two LaSalle Parish men were arrested on drug charges Friday, Aug. 23, 2013. LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives and Tullos police officers made the arrest after stopping their vehicle for traffic violations.
A Tullos police officer initiated the traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 84 and LA 125 in Tullos, LA. The men were identified as Blain Kyle Bass, 30, and Buddy Lewis Hayes, 23, both of Urania, LA.
During the traffic stop, the Tullos police officer requested assistance from an LPSO narcotics detective, after the officer received permission to search the vehicle.
The narcotics detective discovered suspected synthetic marijuana inside the vehicle in several locations. Both men were taken into custody at the scene. Officers then discovered that both Bass and Hayes were on probation and/or parole.
Both were transported to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office in Jena, LA, and booked into the parish jail. The men were charged with possession of CDS I (synthetic cannabinoids), and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole placed a hold on both men.
Both Bass and Hayes remained in the parish jail as of press time Monday, August 26, 2013, awaiting a bond hearing.
