Traffic Stop Leads to Several Charges

A routine traffic stop in the area of U.S. 165 and LA 127 at Olla lead to the arrest of a Caldwell Parish man on multiple narcotic charges, according to LaSalle Sheriff Scott Franklin.
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 9th, a LPSO deputy sheriff conducted the traffic stop at Olla.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Logan Dortch, 21, of Grayson.
Dortch informed the deputy that he was taking the vehicle home for a friend who had been arrested in Caldwell Parish. Caldwell authorities were contacted and they informed the deputy that Dortch was released with the vehicle well over an hour earlier after a thorough search.
Consent to search was given, and during the search, the LPSO deputy located a blue bottle containing aprazolam and diazepam pills along with suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Dortch reportedly admitted the items belonged to him and he was transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail in Jena for booking.
Dortch was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of CDS II – methamphetamine, possession of CDS IV – alprazolam, possession of CDS IV – diazepam, and headlamp being out.
