Several Arrested on Illegal Drug Charges

During the past week, several individuals were arrested and faces numerous illegal narcotic charges in LaSalle Parish according to Sheriff Scott Franklin.

On the morning of Thursday, June 8th, LPSO detectives went to a residence on Billings St. in Trout to execute a search warrant on the home of James and Anna Carter.

Detectives entered the residence and located both homeowners, a female identified to be Nicole Thornton, and five minor children.

Detectives began searching, and found suspected methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia throughout the home.  All three individuals were arrested and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail in Jena to be booked.

James Carter, 47, of Trout, was charged with possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of CDS in the presence of a minor.

Anna Carter, 40, of Trout, was charged with possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of CDS in the presence of a minor.

Nicole Thornton, 29, of Trout, was charged with possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of CDS in the presence of a minor.

More Drug Charges

In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 11th, a LPSO deputy observed vehicles parked at an abandoned home off of LA 127 south of Jena.  The deputy walked up to the vehicle and could smell the odor of marijuana.

A white female identified to be LaRhonda Elliot exited the passenger side of the vehicle, and it was found that she was wanted by the Jena Police Department along with Iberia Parish.

A white male identified to be James Frazier was seated in the driver’s seat and a white male identified to be George Broussard exited the residence.

It was found that Broussard was wanted from Iberia Parish as well.  A LPSO K-9 deputy utilized his K-9 partner for a search of the vehicle, and gave a positive alert.

A hand search was conducted, and deputies located suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and adderall.  Both Frazier and Elliott refused ownership of the suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

LaRhonda Elliott, 37, of Jeanerette, was booked on the charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of CDS II adderall, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two outstanding warrants.

James Frazier, 25, of Jena, was booked for possession of CDS II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

George Broussard, 58, of New Iberia, was booked as a fugitive of Iberia Parish.
