Tullos Citizen Arrested for Prescription Fraud/Forgery

A 44-year-old Tullos, LA citizen was arrested last week by LPSO narcotic detectives for attempting to purchase a controlled dangerous substance by fraud and forgery, according to LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin.

James Jeromy Keene, 44, of Delwood Street in Tullos, LA was arrested without incident on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

The day before, Keene had presented a prescription from a local physician to the Triangle Pharmacy in Jena, LA. The pharmacist recognized that the prescription had possibly been altered to obtain more medication than was prescribed.  The pharmacist contacted the local physician and confirmed that the prescription had been altered.  The pharmacist contacted the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and provided authorities with the details.

Based on this information, narcotic detectives obtained a warrant for Keene’s arrest. After he was taken into custody, he was transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail and booked on the following charges:

• Attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud.

• Forgery.

While at the residence, detectives uncovered evidence of other criminal acts and further charges will be forthcoming against Keene.

As of press time, Monday, May 5, 2014, Keene remained in the LaSalle Parish Jail with bond set at $60,000.
