A 50 year old Belah Community man was arrested and charged with distribution of narcotics and other drug charges following an extensive investigation, according to LaSalle Sheriff Scott Franklin.
At 5:00 AM, Monday morning, July 14, 2014, LPSO officers arrested a Belah resident on drug charges stemming from a search warrant. Rodney Scott “Smitty” Smith, 50, of 185 Arnold Road, was arrested without incident when officers arrived at his home to serve the warrant.
LPSO Officers entered Smith’s home under the authority of a narcotic search warrant obtained after LPSO officers received evidence that Smith possessed and was selling methamphetamines. During the search of Smith’s home, officers found methamphetamines and other items of drug paraphernalia.
Smith was taken to the LaSalle Parish Jail where he was booked on the following charges:
• Illegal possession of CDS II, methamphetamine, with intent to distribute.
• Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Smith was transferred to the LaSalle Correctional Center in Urania, LA and as of press time on Monday, July 21, 2014, was awaiting a bond hearing on these charges.
