Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrest
A suspected drunk driver in the Urania, LA area was charged with possession of an illegal narcotic last week, according to Sheriff Scott Franklin.
On Thursday, September 4, 2014 LPSO deputies responded to reports of a suspected drunk driver in the Urania area. Deputies located a blue Dodge pickup that matched the description traveling on Hardtner Drive in Urania.
After observing the operator of the vehicle driving in an erratic manner, deputies pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Thelma Garbrect, 48, of Tullos, LA.
Garbrect appeared to be impaired, although deputies could not detect the odor of any alcoholic beverages. Further investigation revealed that Garbrect was in possession of the illegal narcotic drug hydrocodone, a prescription pain killer.
Garbrect was placed under arrest and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail in Jena, LA where she was booked on the charge of possession of CDS III, hydrocodone. Bond was set in the amount of $7,500.
