LPSO officers make two more illegal drug arrests

Alert observances of LaSalle Parish deputies working our roads in the parish, two more illegal narcotic arrests were made during the past week, according to LaSalle Sheriff Scott Franklin.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 10, a LPSO deputy stopped a truck on Hwy 127 and Church Street in Jena after observing an equipment violation as well as the truck having switched plates. 

The deputy spoke to the driver, identified as Chelsea R. Morton, age 37, of Jena, and due to Morton’s nervous manner, a LPSO K-9 deputy was requested to come to the stop. 

The K-9 deputy utilized his K-9 partner Max for a search of the truck, that yielded a positive alert.  When deputies explained to Morton that the K-9 alerted, she advised of having methamphetamine in her wallet on the driver seat. 

Deputies collected a small clear zip lock baggy containing suspected methamphetamine along with a glass smoking pipe.

Chelsea Morton was arrested and transported to the LPSO Jail to be booked on the charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper equipment, and switched plates. 

On the evening of Tuesday, September 10, a LPSO deputy stopped a car on Hwy 125 south of Urania and spoke to the driver, identified as Amber Worsham, age 26, of Urania.  While speaking with Worsham she appeared nervous, avoiding eye contact.  Worsham also kept looking at a booster seat located in the front passenger side. 

Consent was given to search the vehicle, and under the booster seat deputies located an open plastic grocery bag containing ten individual baggies of suspected marijuana.

Amber Worsham was arrested and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail to be booked on the charge of possession of CDS I marijuana with intent to distribute.
