Jena Man Charged With Drug Distribution
A 25-year-old Jena man was arrested last week for distribution of illegal narcotics in LaSalle Parish, LA, according to Sheriff Scott Franklin.
Ramon Thomas, 25, of Fourth Street Extension, Jena, LA, was arrested at his residence. Detectives with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at his home with a warrant for his arrest on Friday, January 31, 2014. Detectives had gathered evidence of Thomas selling illegal narcotic drugs, namely cocaine, and used this evidence to secure the arrest warrant. Thomas was arrested without incident, based on a lengthy investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics in the Jena area.
Thomas was booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail on a charge of distribution of CDS II, cocaine, where he remained at press time on Monday, February 3, 2014 as bond had not been set.
Sheriff Franklin commended his officers for their work in this case and for the arrest. “Another drug dealer has been taken off the streets after an extended investigation by our narcotic officers,” Franklin said. “Our children are safer and our neighborhoods are safer because of this arrest, and many others like it.”
Franklin again asked for help from concerned citizens in stopping the sale of illegal narcotics in this parish. He said if anyone suspects illegal activity in their community to contact the Sheriff’s Office with a tip. “Our officers follow up on all tips and if there is illegal activity going on, we’ll conduct an in-depth investigation,” he said.
