Grand Jury Indictment Arrest Leads to Additional Charges
When LaSalle Parish detectives served a Grand Jury indictment arrest warrant on a Tullos, LA woman, officers also charged the woman withadditional multiple drug violations, according to LaSalle Sheriff Scott Franklin.
On Monday, March 23, 2015 LPSO detectives arrested Brandy Nowlin, 31, of Tullos, LA on a warrant stemming from a Grand Jury indictment for a charge of cruelty to a juvenile. The Grand Jury had returned the indictment on March 16, 2015.
Detectives observed Nowlin in a parking lot of a local business in Jena, LA and made contact with her. When she exited the driver’s seat of her vehicle, a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was observed in plain view on the seat.
A further search of the vehicle revealed a glass smoking device containing suspected methamphetamine. After Miranda, Nowlin admitted the smoking device belonged to her and that the substance inside was “meth”.
Brandy Nowlin was booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail on charges of cruelty to a juvenile, possession of CDS II (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $17,500.
Officers also discovered that Jeffrey Nowlin, 32, also of Tullos, LA, who was a passenger in the vehicle, had an outstanding warrant from another parish. He was booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail as a fugitive.
Other Drug Arrests
LPSO narcotic detectives also made two other drug arrests on the same day.
Tasha Zocher, 35, and Bridgett Spruell, 31, were arrested at their residence in the Belah Community of LaSalle Parish on distribution charges.
LPSO narcotic detectives obtained evidence that Zocher had sold methamphetamine, along with an imitation controlled dangerous substanceto an undercover operative on separate occasions. Spruell was present during one of the transactions.Based on this evidence, warrants were issued for the arrest of both Zocher and Spruell.
Zocher was booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail on charges of distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine), distribution of an imitation controlled dangerous substance, and conspiracy to commit distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine). Her bond was set at $120,000.
Bridgett Spruell was booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail on a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine). Her bond was set at $15,000.
