Two Men Arrested on Drug and Stolen Vehicle Charges
A LaSalle Parish deputy sheriff received a call on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, reporting that someone was in the ditch north of Jena, LA near the intersection of LA 127 and Zeagler Cutoff Road.
The deputy responded and found a white male standing in the ditch, claiming that he was waiting on friends but they were lost. The deputy agreed to give the man a ride to the Jena Walmart to meet them.
Once at the business, the deputy saw a tan Jeep Cherokee occupied by two men. When asked if these were his friends, the man became nervous and said no. After exiting the patrol vehicle, the man began to interact with the two men.
After watching this for a while, the deputy approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Billy J. Armstrong, 25, of Alexandria, LA. The other occupant was identified as David E. Langdon, 21, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The deputy soon discovered that the men were in possession of suspected marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. A records check on the vehicle revealed it was stolen from Rapides parish.
Both Armstrong and Langdon were placed under arrest at that time. They were transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail and booked on the following charges:
Billy Armstrong: Illegal possession of stolen things, possession of CDS I (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5,000.
David E. Landon: Illegal possession of stolen things and possession of CDS I (marijuana). Bond was set at $5,000.
As of press time on Monday, July 14, 2014, both men remained in the parish jail in lieu of bond.
