LaSalle Deputy Arrested and Charged with Forcible Rape and Battery
Investigators from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Alexandria Field Office arrested a LaSalle Parish Deputy Sheriff on Thursday, September 26, 2013, for forcible rape and battery.
Deputy Sheriff Clarence Breland, Jr., 52, of Jena, LA, was taken into custody at the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked into the LaSalle Correctional Center without bond.
Louisiana State Police received information and a request from LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin to investigate an alleged rape and battery incident involving one of his deputies.
LSP detectives immediately began an investigation by conducting interviews and gathering forensic evidence. After the preliminary investigation was complete, State Police detectives obtained a warrant and arrested Breland.
As of October 2, 2013, Sheriff Franklin said Breland has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
