Body of Olla woman Found Near Her Home
The body of a 56-year-old Olla, LA, woman was found by deputies from the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office about an hour after she was reported missing by family members last week, according to LaSalle Sheriff Scott Franklin.
Charlotte Sikes, 56, of Holton Road, Olla, LA, resided in the Chickasaw Community near Olla. She was reported missing at 7:20 p.m. on Monday night, February 3, 2014.
Family members reported the last time they saw the victim was about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Ms. Sikes’ daughter went to her home late Monday to check on her. When her daughter discovered that she was not there, the family became concerned and called the Sheriff’s Office.
LaSalle Parish deputies rushed to the scene with the bloodhound, Judy. The bloodhound found Sikes’ body, about 300-yards into the woods from her home, within minutes after she was put on the trail.
Detectives were called, along with Assistant LaSalle Coroner Danny Brown, who pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Detective Tracy Clark said no foul play is suspected in the death, and Sikes’ body was sent to Lafayette for an autopsy.
A memorial service for Charlotte Sikes was held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Caldwell Parish Community Center.
Amber Holton, daughter of Charlotte Sikes, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed sincere thanks to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and the K-9 Unit for their quick response and for finding her mother so quickly after she was reported missing.
