During Sheriff Franklin’s campaign, he promised voters that he would significantly reduce the use and sale of illegal narcotics in LaSalle Parish. Since then, Sheriff Franklin has escalated the war on drugs. LPSO has made over 560 narcotics arrests – more than 210 of these arrests were for narcotics distribution. When the escalation began, LPSO was seizing pounds of marijuana and ounces of cocaine and methamphetamine during drug related arrests. Because of aggressive drug enforcement, now only grams of these substances are available for seizure during arrests.
